Hallowe'en

posted Oct 26, 2016, 5:29 PM by Ummar Aasim   [ updated Oct 26, 2016, 5:32 PM ]

Our Hallowe’en Parade will take place on Monday, October 31 at 9:00am. All classes will assemble on the blacktop at the back of the school in a large circle so that we can all see each other’s wonderful costumes. All students are also welcome to wear black and/or orange if they feel uncomfortable in a costume. At that time, parents are invited to take pictures of their child(ren). Upon completion of the picture taking, all students will be returning to their respective classrooms and proceeding with their day. Students who do not celebrate Hallowe’en will be provided with differentiated activities.

Note about Hallowwe’en Costume Expectations

Please do not have your child(ren)students wearing or bringing:

1. A full face mask as part of any costume.

2. Bloody or gory costumes

3. Fake weapons of any kind e.g., knives, swords, guns.

The appropriateness of any questionable costume or accessory will be made by administration.

Note about Candy

Please have your children consume their candy at home and not at school. We have several students with severe life threatening allergies and I have no way of guaranteeing that the candy comes from a nut-free, contamination-free workplace environment.

I appreciate and thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Board Messaging around Creepy Clown Costumes

Halloween costumes should not incite fear and anxiety in the way that these 'scary or creepy clown' costumes and masks have been designed.

Wearing a clown costume that reflects the positive, happy, jolly image of clowns is appropriate and welcome. Many schools do stipulate that masks are not to be worn as part of any costumes and this could help to avoid the use of the commercially designed 'scary or creepy' clown face mask.
