Salad Bar

posted May 2, 2017, 5:26 AM by Ummar Aasim

Thank you to all staff, parents, volunteers, and students who have helped to make the first three weeks of Oakwood’s Farm Feast Salad Bar a huge success!  It has been wonderful to see students bouncing with excitement (some literally) at the opportunity to have local fresh foods for lunch!

Oakwood is the first school in Halton District School Board to launch a program like this , so on April 25th, we celebrated our official Salad Bar Launch.  We hosted special guests to enjoy our Salad Bar and see it in action, including: Associate Director David Boag of the Halton District School Board; MP John Oliver’s office; Acting Medical Officer of Health Dr. Daniela Kempkens;  various community partners; and representation from local media.  Our guests were thrilled with the program, and we  heard overwhelmingly positive comments from all who attended.

A couple of Salad Bar reminders:

·         The next round of Salad Bar Order Forms were sent home this week.  Please return them to school by Wednesday, May 3rd.

·         We have a wonderful group of volunteers, but are always looking for more!  If you have a police screening and volunteer form with the office, please consider signing up online to help out! If you don’t have a volunteer form or police screening completed and are interested in helping, please call the school at 905-845-0412.

·         If you would like to provide feedback, please email

Way to put the CRUNCH in LUNCH, Oakwood!
